belated happy blogday present

so it appears that i missed c.w.a.j.a.?.'s blogday by six days. i'm a negligent blogger, sorry. but don't worry, c.w.a.j.a.?. i got you a present. i'm pretty sure this is the best picture on the internet right now.

i would like to give credit to whomever made this masterpiece of internet caption art, but since there are 250,000 search results for just watering the owl i don't think that's possible. thank you, mysterious internet caption art master. thank you all the same.

como ya les avisé, me voy al perú. no se si voy a escribir algo mientras estoy viajando, pero al derecho hay enlaces a blogs mucho más bueno que c.w.a.j.a.?. si necesites algo para leer. prometo que les contaré algunos cuentitos interesantes al regresar; no les olvidaré.

like i already told you, i'm going to peru. i don't know if i'm going to write anything while i'm traveling, but to the right are links to blogs much better than c.w.a.j.a.?. if you need something to read. i promise i'll tell you some interesting stories when i return; i won't forget you.

we're downsizing!

it recently occurred to me that since the super slow load time of c.w.a.j.a.?. kind of bummed me out, it might also bother others. and it further occurred to me that since i'm the only one who could actually do something about it, i should.

so, c.w.a.j.a.?. has now slimmed down to 50 posts on the front page, instead of 100. (this has the additional advantage of getting the really slow loading [but hilarious!] "grandkids in the movies" clip off the front page sooner. because sheesh hulu, is your server powered by hamsters on treadmills or something?)

so i've decided to add the fancy new blog list that lets a person know when a blog was last updated. technology! amazing!

and i thought i should take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about the blogs to which i link. and it kind of reminded me of second grade book reports. so.

"So This is Motherhood..." (which, at the time of this blog report, is tragically out of commission) is written by the nephews' mama, who is whip-smart, damn near unflappable, a great cook, and who has one of the healthiest senses of humor i've ever seen on anyone. this is particularly amazing when one considers the fact that her constant (and i mean constant!) companions are the nephews, who are twenty months and thirty-four months old, respectively. the nephews are hilarious and clever and adorable. and, like all kids, they occasionally try a person's patience. the nephews' mama takes it all in stride, and in the past (and in the future) somehow finds time to write about it too.

in conclusion, "So This is Motherhood..." is excellent and you should go read it, then join me in anticipating the golden day when the nephews' mama comes out of retirement and returns to writing.

update: dang! "So This is Motherhood..." has retired like greta garbo. so you'll just have to think back on your memories of its awesomeness, or wish you had read it when you had the chance. the nephews' mama keeps telling me that new blog is on the way, though...i can hardly wait!

can we all just agree that free online streaming music sources like pandora are a great idea?

but that if the first song is something from a terrible band like third eye blind, your life is anything but even semi-charmed?

i hate my shared office space.

[also, blogger, curse you for not letting me link in the title. because pandora is actually pretty cool. according to their site, it's "radio from the music genome project," and you can begin with a song that you like, and a playlist will be generated for you based on your initial selection. and if the song you enter at the beginning isn't totally awful, you'll usually end up with some nice stuff.]

dude, what is the deal with links?

i don't understand why blogger likes to mess up my links. and it makes me frustrated. and today was pretty frustrating already (except for the part where b.f.h. and another good friend both came over)...i'm putting myself to bed now.

dear blogger, what the hell is wrong with you?

why, why, WHY do you screw up my links? not all the time, just often enough to really, really frustrate me. if i am trying to use your handy little link button, i DON'T want you to delete my text and insert this link instead: http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif. because, in addition to making my text vanish, you garble the link location too. this pretty much ruins everything.

update: i also do not appreciate it when you insert "http://www.canwealljustagree.blogspot.com/" in front of my links. that doesn't mess up the order of my text or randomly delete part of it, which i appreciate, but i would appreciate it more if you could really just stop doing that.

also, i know that i keep mentioning it, but it really burns my biscuits that i can't use a different gmail address in a different tab while posting. lame.

can we all just agree that this is pretty much one of the best days ever in the blog-o-sphere?

because:

blogger has finally made it so that i can be signed in to my c.w.a.j.a.?. account and posting in one tab, and using my other gmail addresses in another! hooray! hooray hooray!

and, more importantly, the nephews' mom has started her very own blog, So This is Motherhood...! now you can go read about the exciting exploits of the dudes from someone who has the opportunity to witness them firsthand! all the time! and you can leave her nice comments to welcome her to the interweb. (and to give her another valuable opportunity to interact with people who are potty trained.) ps it is very funny. you won't regret it.
