can we all just agree that it must be really nice to be one of those old men who ride their bikes all the time?

you know the type i mean. old dudes, definitely retired, with top-of-the-line bicycles, supernice cycling clothes and shoes, and fancy helmets. and they look like they're on hour four of a six hour ride.

that's what i'd like to be when i grow up. an old retired dude* on a bike. (although i doubt i'll be outfitted the way they are.)

*okay, okay, it is much more likely that i will be an old lady on a bike someday. but i never see old ladies who look like they're on serious long rides alone. i'll make such a good role model, once i get there!

Your mamacita is one very swankey older lady on a bike. Thusly if the genes still fit when you are an older lady you have no worries whatsoever.....

On any given day one of 9 bikes. Being an old biking dude w/atreasure trove of wonderbikes I get to decide hills today this one flat today that one or dirt this one. Bike for road hills a Colnago Oval Master Ti w/Kysrium SSl/SC wheels and Record 10 Speed triple.

What's your ride? Lately I am riding w/a wonder woman who uses a Litespeed Tuscany w/older Shimano Ultegra -600/Ultegra.

ah, it's nice to have a stable to choose from. i have two bikes, a beater that i use for bicycle polo, and a bianchi volpe that i love very much.

So then you are on your way to a stable of bikes. It will be fun to dicuss bike materials and other bike exotica for many years.

One caution let the others by Plasticum -carbon full frame-bikes. Carbon is nice in forks & stays but not main triangles. Now steel like 853 and the 900 series Reynolds o my so nice. Nothing quite like Ti though. My friend Steve Rex of Sacramento makes a killer carbon-steel mix frame that is really plush. Someday you can get one.

Ride safely and have fun. That's what it's all about.

i'll keep the carbon advice in mind...but it's going to be ages before i could even think of a bike that includes carbon anything.
